Choosing The Right Sunscreen This Summer

While you should use sunscreen every day of the year, it’s even more important during the summer, when the days are longer, the sun is stronger, and it’s easier to spend more time outdoors. When choosing sunscreen, read the label before you buy. US Food and Drug Administration regulations require the labels to follow certain guidelines:

  • Choose a sunscreen with “broad-spectrum” protection. Sunscreens with this label protect against both UVA and UVB rays. All sunscreen products protect against UVB rays, which are the main cause of sunburn. But UVA rays also contribute to skin cancer and premature aging. Only products that pass a test can be labeled “broad spectrum.” Products that aren’t broad spectrum must carry a warning that they only protect against sunburn, not skin cancer or skin aging.
  • Choose a sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or higher. The SPF number is the level of protection the sunscreen provides against UVB rays. Higher SPF numbers do mean more protection, but the higher you go, the smaller the difference becomes. SPF 15 sunscreens filter out about 93% of UVB rays, while SPF 30 sunscreens filter out about 97%; SPF 50 sunscreens filter about 98%, and SPF 100 filter about 99%. No sunscreen protects you completely. The FDA requires any sunscreen with an SPF below 15 to carry a warning that it only protects against sunburn, not skin cancer or skin aging.
  • Water resistant” does not mean “No sunscreens are waterproof or “sweatproof,” and manufacturers are not allowed to claim that they are. If a product’s front label makes claims of being water resistant, it must specify whether it lasts for 40 minutes or 80 minutes while swimming or sweating. For best results, reapply sunscreen at least every 2 hours and even more often if you are swimming or sweating. Sunscreen usually rubs off when you towel yourself dry, so you will need to put more on.

Covid-19 Update- New Strict Guidelines

First and most importantly, we hope that you and your loved ones have remained safe and healthy during this COVID-19 pandemic.  Your well-being and safety are extremely important to us, as is the health and safety of our staff.

We will be re-opening for business on May 18thWe are taking extra precautionary measures to ensure that we provide and maintain the safest environment as we come together again.  The staff at Laser Beauty Works will follow all new, extremely strict protocols to ensure the safety of our team, our incredible clients and our community.

Outlined are the guidelines which ALL clients must follow until further notice:

PLEASE READ THIS IN IT’S ENTIRETY!!!

We strongly advise immunocompromised, at risk and vulnerable clients to really consider your risks before scheduling an appointment in order to reduce your exposure to COVID-19 and any other major health-related illnesses during this crucial time.

We ask that if you are experiencing any illness or symptoms (fever, coughing, flu-like symptoms, sore throat, etc) or have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19to please reschedule your appointment.

It is mandatory for ALL clients to wear a face mask at all times.  If you do not have a face mask on before entering, we will refuse service and you will need to call and reschedule your appointment.

In order to follow occupancy regulations, there will be no reception seating available.  We ask that you please arrive to your appointment at your exact appointment time - not earlier or later. There will be no exceptions! In order to do this, we recommend that you arrive early and wait in your car until your appointment time to come up. Please do not bring anyone else with you.

We ask that all clients wash their hands for a minimum of 20 seconds in the hallway restroom before entering our business space.  We will also provide hand sanitizer in all the treatment rooms for you to use before your treatment.

No cell phones, electronic devices or laptops.  We also kindly ask that you do not bring in any outside food or drinks.  Our lounge/reception area will be closed until further notice so we will not be able to provide you with any complimentary water at this time. Our apologies in advance.

Upon arrival, you will be asked to sign a COVID-19 Consent in order to be treated.  If you do not agree to sign this, you will not be treated. We will be taking everyone’s temperature with a device that is held close to your forehead and will read your temperature immediately. If you have a fever, you will be asked to leave and reschedule. All staff members will also have their temperaturetaken before each shift.

If you arrive at your appointment showing any visible signs of illness (ex: cough, fever, shortness of breath), even while wearing a face mask, you will be turned away and you will need to reschedule when healthy.

Our “No Show/ No Call Cancellation Policy will still apply to all appointments.

We are following all COVID-19 Health and Safety guidelines from the CDC and DORA (Colorado Dept of Regulatory Division of Professions and Occupations).  Each room will be sanitized after each client to ensure your safety.  We have extended our in-between treatment times to ensure plenty of time for this.

Please understand that we may not be able to perform any face treatments that would require you to remove your face mask.  We are still waiting for a confirmation from DORA as to when we can lift this restriction.  We will be updating you on this as soon as we know.

As a further precaution, we will not be accepting any cash payments as a payment method for services or gratuity.  According to the World Health Organization, cash could be contributing to the spread of the coronavirus and contactless payments are strongly advised.  We will be accepting both debit and credit cards for payment and Venmo as a preferred method of gratuity.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this transition.  We appreciate all of you very much and we look forward to seeing you soon!
